This guide will take you through the series, showing you the best order to watch them and where to stream each film.
How to Watch the ‘Ice Age’ Movies in Chronological Order
The release order and the chronological order of the films are the same. So, you can follow the escapades of Manny (a woolly mammoth), Sid (a ground sloth), and Diego (a saber-toothed tiger) in a straightforward chronological order. The first movie came out in 2002, and it spawned four sequels. A stand-alone spinoff film released in 2022.

How to Watch ‘Ice Age’ Shorts and Specials
Nine Ice Age animated shorts and specials expand the universe. You can skip the shorts, as they are not essential to the main plot. But with their help, you can understand the misfits from the Ice Age (like Scrat, a saber-toothed squirrel) and their stories. The six-episode mini-series (Ice Age: Scrat Tales) rounds off the story and is worth a watch.
Shorts/Special | Synopsis | Where to Watch |

Gone Nutty (2002) | Scrat discovers a giant stash of acorns, but his attempts to store it lead to hilarious mishaps. | Disney+ |

Will There Be Another ‘Ice Age’ Movie?
It's hard to say whether the Ice Age franchise will continue for a couple of reasons. The main one is that Blue Sky Studios, which produced the bulk of the series, closed in 2021. Regardless, Blue Sky's former parent company, Disney, has produced a movie without them: The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild in 2022.
Disney retains the rights to Ice Age after the studio's closure, however, and they may revisit it in the future.
